Character

The breed is known to get aggressive, so it is recommended to get them trained and socialized early before letting them freely around the house with other pets and small children. This breed is known to be loyal, protective, and alert, making them the perfect guard dog and also considering their big size. You can opt for obedience classes as well for them just to make sure that they are responsive to family members. Otherwise, it is easy to train them without much problem. They are however not recommended for owners who have not had big dogs before or are first timers.

Maintenance

Having a short coat, they do not have to be brushed regularly. However, just to ensure that they do not get skin problems and avoid excessive shedding, it is recommended to brush them thrice a week, this will also ensure their good health. Frequent baths are not recommended for them, and it is advised to consult the veterinarian for a mild dog shampoo such that they do not develop skin problems. It is advised to check their skin folds while brushing just to make sure that there is no accumulation of bacteria. Nails can be clipped every 10 days.

Ideal Environment

This is a very energetic dog, and they need at least one hour of daily activity and exercise to ensure they stay healthy. They are prone to get gastric dilatation-volvulus (GDV), or bloat, so it is advised that they should not eat within an hour of exercise. Some of the activities which they like are running in the yard, playing fetch and also going for a walk. They can also be taken to the dog park where they can play freely. The owners must understand that if Nekita does not get the required amount of daily exercise and activity, it can lead to behavioral issues such as boredom and aggression.

Dog Training!

If you're having problems training your dog or getting control, you should read our review of DogProblems.com. Adam will do whatever it takes to help you whip your dog into shape. I've used them to help with my Great Dane as well as help friends train their dogs. It's the first place I go to help answer users Questions. Many training issues are too extensive to answer in this forum, which is why I refer a lot of the load to his site. Update: I've been using and recommending DogProblems for three years now. I, as well as my users, value the techniques we've learned. I get weekly emails from users who have become better owners from the information they received.
