As with all mixed breed dogs, a Malchi can look more like a Maltese or more like a Chihuahua. Some are a perfect mix between the two breeds and have the longer hair of the Maltese with the pointed ears of the Chihuahua. They are not quite as big as the Yorkie but more like the size of a small full grown Chihuahua. They are fragile and their bones may be broken easily.
The Malchi is known to have a gentle disposition but may be protective of family and often barks at strangers. The Malchi is an ideal family pet and desires love and affection. Given its desire to please and commitment to owners, its an ideal pet for seniors. This breed is intelligent and exceptionally sharp. Training is a breeze for most owners. This breed does require daily exercise, but is suited for apartment living. Some may describe this breed as a giant dog trapped in a small breeds body. The Malchi is full of heart, fearless, sassy yet strive to please their owners.
Some will have digestion and intestinal issues that require medium to high fiber diets. Others are prone to eye issues.
Cleaning of their teeth is important. Daily brushing should be done to avoid tarter and decay. Lack of cleaning will lead to extractions at a young age.
If you're having problems training your dog or getting control, you should read our review of DogProblems.com. Adam will do whatever it takes to help you whip your dog into shape. I've used them to help with my Great Dane as well as help friends train their dogs. It's the first place I go to help answer users Questions. Many training issues are too extensive to answer in this forum, which is why I refer a lot of the load to his site.
Update: I've been using and recommending DogProblems for three years now. I, as well as my users, value the techniques we've learned. I get weekly emails from users who have become better owners from the information they received.
Bingo is My Grandmas dog, but, with her recently passing, I am trying to care for her since she doesn't have any female interaction anymore. I have 2 senior dogs and she's terrified to get near them. Very scared!!!!!!

Name:
Harry
Color:
cream and tan
Description:
Harry was just confirmed via DNA that he is a Malchi. He was rescued from a Costco parking lot. When we adopted him in February, 2013, he was almost 5 months old. He was so shy and quiet when we got him, but boy howdy has his personality changed! He definitely barks a LOT--hearing things a lot sooner than we do! He likes to "pick" on our other dog, Daisy (Tibetan Spaniel) who is almost 13 years old. Daisy does let Harry know when she doesn't want to play. He's affectionate, and loves to play fetch with us. He sure is a cutie! I named him Harry because he IS...hairy!

Description:
Very loyal protector. Enjoys curling up in my lap, as well as playing chase and fetch. I named him after the janitor/building manager on 'Good Times,' which suits him perfectly. Whenever he hears someone in the kitchen, even if he's asleep...on the other side of the house, he comes running!
